For some context, some Asian lady apparently wanted to contact a travel agent but somehow got my number instead and we started casually chatting for the last 2/3 days since I was bored. We were talking about work and she mentioned that she is checking her wallet and that she can make 800 USDT daily. I jokingly said that I hope I could also do that soon and now she’s seemingly intending to teach me how to, but she said that I need to buy 0.015 ETH to “join”? I don’t use Binance but this seems very fishy so I told her I don’t have any money on my card rn. I assume she’s trying to scam me, am I right?

The scam works by baiting you to put in a small sum of money first and then you get greedy and put in more money and eventually lose it.

If she can make 800 USDT daily why would she need 0.015 ETH from you to teach/join? like she can earn it within the next 24Hours.

There is no “She” just a pretender, probably a guy in Nigeria or a dude in China. You will most likely be directed to a fake site where you will loose all your so called investment.

Hi! We always encourage users to be cautious and take the necessary actions to protect themselves from falling victim to these scams.
Scammers are using new ways to find their next target, we, therefore, recommend you to stay alert to possible scams at all times. Here are some common examples:
    – Scammers might impersonate the Binance Customer Service team or as a person who works with our platform to make money easily and contact you outside of our official channels.
Please note that Binance Support staff will never ask you to reveal any sensitive information or send money to any address for any reason. An investment to then get more money without any further action can be a scam
    – Phishing is a fraudulent attempt to obtain sensitive information, such as your username, password, 2FA code, by disguising as Binance in emails, fake websites and social media accounts or with phone number

She wanted to contact a travel agent, somehow got in touch with you, kept texting you (why?), ended up asking to buy something.
I WONDER IF THIS IS A SCAM

I had the same experience about 4 weeks ago on WhatsApp. Asian “lady”, tried to contact a travel agent, misstyped number. The profile pic showed an attractive asian model. I stopped talking to her/him before any financial topics came up. I use this number to verify my account on Binance. Coincidence?

This is the honey pot scam. They’ve mentioned this scam numerous times on national television and many publications this year and last. Some governments have issued press release style statements outlining the scam. Sooooo….. makes you wonder what this post is really about because you don’t seem dumb enough to actually think this is legit to the point you’d take the time to write a situation to ask for advice.
