For those of you that won’t read the article, the ~7000 BTC loss is fully covered by the SAFU fund and, from a user perspective, nothing will change (except for the temporary suspension of deposits/withdrawals).

    https://www.binance.vision/glossary/secure-asset-fund-for-users

With that said, we’re in the process of investigating, and tracking the stolen funds with the help of blockchain analysis partners and other exchanges.

Honestly this blows but, for binance to eat the cost of this twice. Once by shutting down for a week and again by paying out of pocket is really good on them.

My god, what a disaster for Binance. A sad day.

Now we can just hope for law enforcement doing their job and finding the hackers.

Should all users now change/reset their 2FA keys?

Ok not to the best of my judgment, I just deposited some ETH to my Binance address. But if the depositing is suspended, will I ever receive my ETH?

Received a notification to reset API key?

This how real men (or honorable women) deal with a situation like this. They take responsibility and do the right thing.

Sounds like there will be some vacuum trading! (Vacuum trading: when tokens cannot be transferred en mass to an exchange to dump, i.e. BTT airdrops or whales suppressing price)

I understand that deposits and withdrawals are suspended, but I sent an ETH deposit over just minutes before they suspended them. It says the transaction was complete on Coinbase where I sent my ETH from, but on Binance, nothing is showing in my wallet, and nothing is showing in my deposit history. I’m just worried my ETH is gone somehow, and I’m not getting any answers from my support ticket on Binance.

Since today I can’t withdraw eur from [binance.je](https://binance.je), it get immediately “failed” status. Is this related to this hack?

  14. skyrbs on 22. July 2019 at 23:14

    That’s the power of Bitcoin

    no one can revert transactions

    Long BTC

  15. fbmbirds on 22. July 2019 at 23:14

  16. demographic12 on 22. July 2019 at 23:14

I transferred 20k to try out binance from coinbase for the first time. That’s what I get for trusting a Chinese exchange, now I can’t even get my money back out….

  18. lost_civilizations on 22. July 2019 at 23:14

its such bullshit. They are letting investors who are exiting the stock market get in while the plebs are locked out

  19. darcytheINFP on 22. July 2019 at 23:14

This along with what is going on at Bitfinex and Tether… it’s been a rough ride in the last 24 hours

  21. chillimonty on 22. July 2019 at 23:14

Does binance DEX enable bitcoin trading? Is there any DEX that does?

  22. NightOuts on 22. July 2019 at 23:14

lol, so it’s pretty much ‘fk everyone who had to do something with their funds”

i noticed the market was completely red yesterday – probably why they decided to trap funds in Binance and disguise it as something else.

  23. And03pie on 22. July 2019 at 23:14

41 million dollars ! thats a big chunk of change,

Will this be 41 million less of the profits to do the quarterly buy back. Price would loose some value here i would imagine. binance making coinbase look good lol

  24. And03pie on 22. July 2019 at 23:14

Is craig wright responsible for the hack? If he is Satoshi he would probably know how to do it anyway

  25. ChubbyInvestor on 22. July 2019 at 23:14

I guess this was good timing for me to have sold a few 100 ETH in the high 170’s earlier today. Thanks for sharing the information on here.
